Councilmember Agran Asks For Presentation on Power Authority Update

Irvine City Councilmember Larry Agran has submitted a memo asking for a presentation on the City’s participation and progress in the Orange County Power Authority at an upcoming Irvine City Council meeting. The City Council gave final approval in December, 2019 to establish the Orange County Power Authority (OCPA) — a joint powers authority to provide clean, renewable energy for our City (and other participating municipalities), and to help us achieve our stated climate-action goals for carbon reduction.

Councilmember Agran’s memo requests that our City staff and OCPA officials provide a Presentation — an OCPA progress report — for the benefit of the City Council and the entire Irvine community.  I am officially requesting a “second” so that this matter may be placed on the City Council agenda for our meeting of October 12 or October 26.

"I haven't had the opportunity for a briefing from the Joint Power Authority, nor has the community on the progress they've made. I look forward to a staff presentation at an upcoming City Council meeting very soon,” said Councilmember Agran.
