Councilmember Agran Calls for City Audit of the Orange County Power Authority

“It remains to be seen if OCPA will deliver on [its] promise…so I am requesting that the City Council…direct the City Manager to commence a City audit of the Orange County Power Authority,” said Councilmember Larry Agran in a memo posted March 1. The City has 10 months to exercise this option, and Councilmember Agran has taken the lead to do so before OCPA launches service April 1.

The Orange County Power Authority, an entity procuring electricity for Irvine, Buena Park, Fullerton, and Huntington Beach ratepayers, will launch service for commercial customers on April 1. On October 1, residential customers will likewise be enrolled automatically, and they are expected to automatically pay between 3.7% and 5.6% more on their electricity bills.
