ARDA Site Demolition and Cleanup on City Council Agenda

Irvine Councilmember Larry Agran has placed the Amended and Restated Development Agreement (ARDA) site on Great Park Board Agenda Item 2.2 and City Council Item 6.4 agendas for tomorrow (7/26).

On February 8, 2022, the City Council directed staff to begin work on the demolition of the many derelict buildings within the Amended Restated Development Agreement (ARDA) site at the northern boundary of the Great Park. Now that it is July, Councilmember Agran would like the City to follow through on this commitment via the following:

  1. A demolition, cleanup and site clearance plan for the 125-acre ARDA site within 30 days and a start date for the demolition to be on January 10, 2023 or sooner;

  2. A Request for Proposal on

    1. A linear perimeter park surrounding the ARDA site (approximately 35 acres)

    2. The restoration and reuse of the historic on-site aircraft control tower, airplane hangars, tarmac and runway as an aviation museum (approximately 25 acress)

    3. An intentional forest in the area bounded by Cadence, Pusan Way and Irvine Boulevard (approximately 40 acres)

Councilmember Agran plans to present this proposal for City Council review at both the Great Park and City Council meetings tomorrow. For more information, email LarryAgran@cityofirvine.org with any questions.
